Thank you to parents of year 1, 2 and 3 children who have already returned their Flu Immunisation permission forms to school. If you have not already done so the immunisations are to take place on 20th October. School Health will collect the forms on Monday 17th October can you ensure your form is returned to the school office by this date.
Attendance w/c 10th October
During this week 124 children have had 100% attendance and will be in the £5 voucher draw on Monday, the previous week we had 112 children with 100% attendance.
A boy in Class 4 won the 3% voucher last week and Reception Class had the best weekly attendance for the second week in a row!!
After a shaky start to the school year our attendance is slowly starting to improve!!
In the light of the new 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' document we have recently updated our Safeguarding Policy. This is available on our Parents Section of the website under 'Policies' It is currently in draft form awaiting agreement from the Governors. We urge you to view it.
Yr 6 - You must apply now for a place for September 2017 when YR 6 children will transfer to their next stage of education. The deadline for submitting your application is midday (12 noon) on 31st October 2016
Nursery - You must apply now for a reception place in September 2017. If your child was born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 it is now time to apply for a school place for them to start school in a reception class in September 2017. The deadline for submitting your application is midday (12 noon) on 15th January 2017

A big 'Thank You' to Vision Supply Agency who are going to supply one £5 voucher to our school on a weekly basis which can be used in the Metro Centre or Eldon Square. Children who have 100% attendance for that week will be entered into a draw and the winner will receive the voucher!! This incentive begins week commencing 19th September. The first weekly draw will take place on Monday 26th September.
Our Harvest festival was held on Thursday 22nd September at Lemington Methodist Church at 1.30pm. Thank you for your kind donations which have been given to the People's Kitchen in Newcastle to provide meals for homeless people. The children were congratulated on their excellent behaviour in church and their enthusiastic participation!
We held our Roald Dahl Day on Thursday 15th September. The children came to school in some fantastic costumes of their favourite Roald Dahl character! Miss Stephenson began the day by holding an assembly about the life of Roald Dahl as an author and his books. Our children already knew a lot about Roald as they proved in the quiz!! The children took part in many exciting activities throughout the day with a Roald Dahl theme!
KS2 SAT Results
Well done to our year 6 children - excellent results - we are very proud of you!!
Reading - 90% of our children achieved the expected level against the national average of 66%
Writing - 90% of our children achieved the expected level against the national average of 74%
Maths - 90% of our children achieved the expected level against the national average of 70%
Combined reading, writing and maths - 90% of our children achieved the expected level against the national average of 53%
English, grammar, Punctuation and spelling - 80% of our children achieved the expected level against the national average of 72%

Congratulations Mrs Hinshaw!! On Sunday 11th September 2016 Mrs Hinshaw our Deputy Head teacher completed the Great North Run. She was very pleased with her time!!
We would like to say thank you to parents and carers for continuing to help your children to learn their spellings!! We have recently looked at their books and there is a definite improvement in spelling across the school! The children are also improving their weekly spelling scores. Your support has had a positive impact!!
Family Support drop in - Paula Stone is available every Wednesday (term time) to give support with children's health, behaviour, attendance, problems at home and at school. You can also talk to a Nurse who will be there the first Wednesday of every month, in the Parents Room, Key Stage 1 building, 8:45 - 9:30am.
Thank you to all of the children who voted for themes for our new playground sheds, following suggestions by School Council members. The winning themes are Pirates for the KS1 shed and Horrid Henry for the KS2 shed. Watch this space for updates!
