The School Council launched our School House System recently and the children are keen to earn points for their house!! The houses were decided by the children and they are named after the Newcastle bridges - Tyne, Millenium and Swing.
Ofsted visited our school on Thursday 8th December. The report from the visit has now been published and you should have received a copy.
Autumn Half Term 2
It was a really busy second Autumn half term!! Several of our children took part in visits during the first week of half term and the Centre for Life visited our school with their Astro Maths Road Show for years 5 and 6!
Years 3, 4 and 5 visited the cinema as part of the cinema festival week. Reception Class and Years 1 and 2 had a great afternoon with Zoo Lab where they had the opportunity to hold various unusual animals! Class 6 visited the cinema during the third week and learnt how to travel safely on public transport in preparation for High School!!
Class 2 visited the Lemington Resource Centre to interview the staff about the building and their roles. They were also shown around and had a short play session in the garden.
Children who had 100% attendance during the Autumn first half term were invited to an attendance party on Tuesday afternoon.
We became an Operation Encompass school from 7th November. We will be informed by Social Care if any child has been involved in, the previous day, a domestic violence incident. This will enable us to know about children who are experiencing difficulties and support them as they may need it. If you have not received a letter about this or would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
A big 'Thank You' to Vision Supply Agency who are continuing to supply one £5 voucher to our school on a weekly basis which can be used in the Metro Centre or Eldon Square. Children who have 100% attendance for that week will be entered into a draw and the winner will receive the voucher!!
In the light of the new 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' document we have recently updated our Safeguarding Policy. This is available on our Parents Section of the website under 'Policies'. We urge you to view it.
