Further update: Home times in Years 1/2/3

Dear all,

We are just providing an update regarding home time arrangements for children in years 1, 2 and 3 (Miss Brush, Ms Turner and Mr. Carter’s classes).

We now have more children in these classes than we have had in previous years and we are always looking to ensure that all parts of the school day operate as safely and smoothly as they can.

At the start of term we asked that adults wait away from the gates/side pathway on the main playground and allow staff to bring the children on to the main playground space where it is easier to safely hand over children to adults directly. Some adults were still waiting near the gates and the pathway making it difficult for staff to hand over the children safely so we came up with a second solution.

The second solution was dismissing the children from the double blue doors directly to the adults one by one. This hasn’t not worked as well as we had hoped due to the small space and the number of adults waiting in the gate entrance.

Therefore we have now ordered some safety fencing that will be in place at home times allowing staff to safely walk the children from the doors to the playground and then dismiss one by one to parents from the main playground (this safety fencing was ordered yesterday and will arrive soon). We kindly ask that all parents and other adults collecting wait right down on the main playground, away from the gates and the side path to allow staff to safely and smoothly dismiss all children.

Thank you so much for your understanding and help with this, we appreciate it!
